A stylish face on practicality - that’s how Autotrader describes the 2014 Ford Edge in its most recent review.
That’s good news for those of us who need a safe, reliable and affordable car but aren’t yet ready to concede to minivan life.
So what makes the Edge stand out among comparable SUVs? Here’s what Autotrader had to say about why you just might love it.
Safety: The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2014 Edge its highest-possible “good” rating for crash-test performance in all four categories: front impact, side impact, roof strength, and head restraints and seats.
Good looks: Round edges, a three-bar wide-mouth grille and wraparound headlamps make the Edge stand out. It’s sporty and sleek in style, so while it might be practical, no one else has to know that.
Fuel efficiency: Thanks to Ecoboost technology that improves fuel economy without sacrificing engine power, the Edge gets 27 miles per gallon on the highway and 19 on the city. That’s impressive for an SUV.
Optional luxury: If you want to upgrade your ride, the 2014 Edge offers many options to do so. Limited models come with leather upholestry, heated front seats, touchscreen audio and climate controls, a 12-speaker premium sound system, a rear camera, a garage door opener and more. The good news? Even the luxury models are reasonably priced.
