The Ford F-150 has been America’s best-selling vehicle for 32 years and for good reason. It’s a capable pickup truck that’s unmatched in towing, hauling, and navigating uneven terrain. But it also takes up quite a bit of space, which makes it difficult to keep track of what’s going on around you. Luckily, the folks at Ford have developed innovative features for the 2015 F-150 that will help drivers be aware of their surroundings.
1. Class-exclusive active park assist
Using electric power-assisted steering and two ultrasonic sensors, the F-150 helps drivers maneuver into a parallel parking spaces. The sensors can determine whether or not there is enough space for the F-150 between two cars. If there is, the driver operates the brake pedals and accelerator while the truck effortlessly steers itself into the space.
2. Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert
Also known as BLIS®, these radar sensors located in the taillamps monitor areas around the truck which might not be in the driver’s immediate field of vision. If a car in a blind spot is changing lanes, the sensors will alert the F-150 driver by illuminating a warning light in the sideview mirrors. This also comes in handy when backing out in a parking lot.
3. Class-exclusive 360-degree camera with split-view display
This brilliant feature uses four 360-degree exterior cameras to create a bird’s-eye 7-foot radial view of the F-150. This helps drivers with navigating narrow streets, parking, and maneuvering in tight spaces.
