Say goodbye to gas stations forever, when you get the keys to your 2013 Ford Focus Electric.
There’s nary a horse to be found under the hood of the Focus Electric.Instead, you’ll be greeted by a 107-kilowatt electric motor that, when fully charged, has an estimated range of 76 miles. The EPA gave it an energy efficiency equivalent rating of 110 MPGe in the city and 99 MPEe on the highway. The 2013 Focus Energy can charge in just four short hours and comes with a 240-volt home charger.
The technology in the Focus Energy deserves an honorable mention, with its MyFord Touch interface with SYNC. Drivers are given an 8-inch touch screen which includes navigation, device pairing, rear-view camera, and more.
You even have access to the MyFord Mobile, an app which allows you to locate nearby charging stations, monitor charge progress, and remotely set the car’s temperature. Other goodies include rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, and 60/40 folding rear seats.
One Auto Blog reviewer found that the futuristic Focus Electric provided an exceptionally quiet ride, due to the advanced sound insulation installed throughout the cabin. As always, Ford has equipped the Focus with top-notch safety features including six airbags, anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist, and electronic stability control.
