The Edge has always given its drivers a “leg up” over other motorists on the road for a variety of reasons. Since its inception, it’s been sleek, stylish, and a fantastic performer. Affection for the model range reaches all-new heights with the 2015 Sport variant, however, as owners rave over the engine and general spaciousness.
Understandably, you would expect the Edge Sport to be pretty peppy, but the 2.7L V6 motor here really ups the ante. There’s an enormously impactful 1-2 punch of 315 horses and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. This means that you’re going to launch from zero all the way up to 60 MPH in approximately 5.6 seconds. That’s plenty crazy, but the stat is more remarkable when you realize the car still achieves an EPA-estimated 27 MPG highway. And because this stands as the performance-centric entry into the lineup, all-wheel drive is standard, too. The trails are there for the taking!
Another quick note—this is the all-new Edge design that takes its cues from the sophisticated Fusion sedan. Thus, the dimensions are longer and more accommodating. The biggest gain here is with storage space. With the seats up, there’s now 39.2 cubic feet of cargo room, and with them down that number enlarges to 73.4.
