The 2011 Edge Sport is one heck of a vehicle. Both the engine and the cabin have been wonderfully spruced up on this trim and model year. It’s so impressive, in fact, that Autoblog opines that Ford has mastered the mid-cycle refresh.
The first evidence of this excellence lies under the hood. The 3.7L V6 motor standard on the Edge Sport offers a ferocious 305 horses and 280 lb.-ft. torque. That’s good for a 0-60 MPH time of only 6.9 seconds. Fortunately, even with this acceleration the car can still manage an EPA-estimated 23 MPG on the highway.
Of course, there’s much more to appreciate once you’re seated within. Soft-touch materials abound, and the steering wheel is covered in smooth leather. A new acoustic windshield, as well as a thicker firewall, serve to keep noise out of the cabin. And while cargo space is solid in any configuration at 32.2 cubic feet, things really open up due to the 60/40 folding second row. When these seats are down, the SUV provides a wondrous 68.9 cubic feet of total storage room.
