Ford has just published a patent filed in 2017 to create a “portable entertainment support system” for a pickup truck box. When you’re not using all that flatbed space for hauling tools or furniture, you’ll be able to set up your own private movie theater and take tailgating—or Netflix and chilling—to a whole new level.
Here’s how Ford describes it: “An entertainment support system is attached to a pickup truck having a plurality of receptacles in sidewalls of a truck box spaced above a truck bed. The entertainment support system includes a first mount having a first horizontal arm extending between opposing sidewalls of the truck box, and a vertical arm extending orthogonal to the first horizontal arm. The entertainment support system further includes a second mount including a second horizontal arm extending between the opposing side walls parallel to and spaced from the first horizontal arm.”
As Rob Stumpf translates, that means removable mounts fixed on the truck bed sides and cross members that horizontally span the bed to support a T-shaped structure. The frame will be higher than the cab to hold a large screen edge to edge. And there’s a horizontal bar to hold your projector and two audio speakers.
