Have you heard the news? The 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor is a beautiful truck with big improvements. This powerhouse was already great on trails, but the new model shines even more, including an off-road cruise control and dramatically improved shocks. It’s made headlines for its impressive refresh.
The pickup’s new “Trail Control” system is a low-speed cruise control for 1-20 mph, designed to deliver regardless of the terrain, adjusting throttle and braking when needed. Driver seats are also improved; they’re made to keep drivers secure whether at low speeds for challenging ground or out on regular roads.
The engine hasn’t changed, with a 3.5-liter twin turbocharged EcoBoost V6 delivering a powerful 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. The auto 10-speed handles shifting easily, but the Fox shocks are much more responsive with the new “Live Valve” system. This continuously evaluates input from a variety of sensors to adjust moment-by-moment with compression damping on all four corners. It responds to both driver input and road conditions, combining both for superior handling and response. When you let up on the gas, the vehicle understands it may need to brace for a bigger impact without bottoming out. This offers considerable improvement on very rocky and uneven terrain.
