If you’ve got racing in your blood – or just enjoy watching it – then hold on to your hats…
Ford Performance recently decided to race the Ford GT for four years in the IMSA and World Endurance Championship (WEC), which means that the carbon fiber supercar will have two more years of production. Applicants for purchase rejoiced at this news last month, which followed letters sent notifying customers of the status of their applications to purchase this glorious (and fast!) car.
Applicants placed on the wait list will receive the Ford GTs from year three of production, while year four will be reserved for deferred applications or those that missed the deadline, with purchase applications for fourth year production also reopening in early 2018.
“While we can’t build enough Ford GTs for everyone who has applied, we are going to produce additional vehicles in an effort to satisfy more of our most loyal Ford ambassadors,” says Dave Pericak, global director for Ford Performance, according to the Ford Motor Company Media Center. “We want to keep Ford GT exclusive, but at the same time, we know how vital this customer is to our brand.”
