What’s summer without an epic road trip to close it out?
And the most epic of road trip excursions in our American ideal is cross-country, of course. What makes it even better? Well, Coca-Cola Journey (the global digital magazine for the company) sending two millennials on an exploration of America in a 2017 Ford Escape.
On September 13th, the Coca-Cola Ford Escape departed from Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta. Aptly named “JourneyxJourney,” the purpose of the trip is to capture how Coca-Cola is deeply rooted into the fabric of local communities and American culture.
Customized by Motor City Solutions out of suburban Detroit, the new Ford Escape has EcoBoost engines that shut off when the Escape is at a common stop, burning no gas and eliminated tailpipe emissions during that time. When the driver releases the brake pedal, then the engine restarts automatically. It also features enhanced safety through driver-assist technologies and even a custom-fitted cooler housed in the rear cargo area.
This 21-day trek will be making stops in restaurants, national parks and visiting historical landmarks, with the end destination designated as Los Angeles on October 5th. The Ford Escape will transverse over 4,000 miles and make approximately 24 documented stops. Content from the trip will be published live via Coca-Cola’s social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter.
