In 2010 Ford introduced drivers to its Raptor - an F-150 variant that promised off-road thrills and best-in-class power. Anchored by a 6.2L V8, this truck roared down every mile, spitting sand beneath its 17-inch wheels. It delivered a (then) staggering 411 HP and 420 lb.-ft of torque, and it had no equal.
Now it has a successor.
According to the NWI Times, Ford has crafted a segment-shattering platform. The 2018 Raptor - which will soon arrive in dealerships - crushes both the competition and its own forebearers. Beneath the hood waits a turbocharged 3.5L V6, which yields 450 HP and 510 lb.-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission ensures fluid performance, optimizing every custom drive mode offered by the Terrain Management System (this maximizes the FWD, distributing power as needed based upon road conditions: Normal, Mud/Sand, Baja, and Rock Crawl).
All of this then pairs with a military-grade aluminum body that provides faster responses. By shedding more than 500 pounds from its chassis, the 2018 Raptor can now launch from 0 to 60 in just 6.3 seconds. It boasts a top speed of 100 MPH and is destined to break every off-road record.
