The month of April was especially friendly to the Ford China team. Reports show that approximately 94,000 vehicles were sold, only a stone's throw shy of a six-digit victory; the profits come out to an 11-percent increase year-over-year as well.
Branches of the Blue Oval, Changan Ford Automobile (CAF) and Jiangling Motor Corporation, separately yielded notable gains during the time frame, contributing to the large numbers overall:
Changan Ford Automobile: 62,000 vehicles sold / 6-percent increase
Jiangling Motor Corporation: 25,000+ vehicles sold / 15-percent increase
The brand's sales of sedans also played a role in overall profits, with a tip of the hat to the Escort, all-new Focus and Mondeo, and Taurus. However, SUVs continued to reign supreme amongst buyers, who favored the EcoSport, Kuga, Edge, Everest and Explorer. The Edge, in particular, stood out with a 19-percent boost - watch it in action below:
“...Sales bounced back strongly in April in China with gains across our lineup. The overall market remains strong and we expect to gain momentum as the year continues as we launch new products and new models to our existing lineup,” saidPeter Fleet, Ford’s Vice President of Marketing and Service for Asia Pacific.
