The Work Truck Show in March - the largest in the nation - was highlighted by Ford's announcement of updates to its broad commercial vehicle lineup, delighting attendees who are familiar with the high caliber of the Blue Oval's Transit vehicles.
At a press conference on March 14, Ford also informed media of the 2018 Transit van family updates and also debuted the expanded Advanced Fuel Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) program.
“Ford is deeply committed to the work truck market,” John Ruppert, Ford's general manager of commercial vehicle sales and marketing, said. “We are the only OEM to offer our vocational customers vehicles in every segment from Classes 1-7, and have sold more commercial vehicles every year for three decades than any other manufacturer.”
Only a couple of years ago, Ford Transit climbed to the top of the rankings and became the nation's best-selling commercial van; in 2016, it became the best-selling van overall, surpassing minivans.
One new perk of the Transit relates to its rearview camera, which is standard on the van. Newer models will display it above the rear doors on medium- and high-roof models, although it'll flank the license plate on low-roof models. Locking box gloves, all-new rear door exit handles and rear LED cargo lamp switches will also become standard.
