2017 used ford fiesta for sale seattle washingtonNeed another reason to anticipate test-driving the next-generation Ford Fiesta at Sound Ford? The trendy subcompact, which offers 1.0-, 1.1-, and 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine selections, will also pilot advanced Pedestrian Detection technology when it makes its debut later this year.

The decision to integrate this night-friendly innovation stemmed from the results of Ford's recently commissioned poll, which identified night blindness and accidentally hitting a person or object as the top nighttime driving fears. The new feature, consequently, is crafted to identify pedestrians at night and brake if the driver waits too long or misses the initial signs.

“We know some drivers find hitting the road at night a stressful experience. Especially driving in towns and cities, pedestrians – sometimes distracted by mobiles – can without warning step into the road, leaving even alert drivers very little time to avoid an accident,” Gregor Allexi, an active safety engineer for Ford of Europe, said. “Day and night, Pedestrian Detection is designed to help identify people already in – or about to step into – the road ahead.”
