Developed in 2012, the Drive 4 UR Community program was developed by Ford Motor Company to help raise funds for local communities. The most popular leg of this program is the Drive 4 UR School campaign, where the Ford dealer in a community hosts a one-day test driving event. And Ford is proud to report that the two organizations have raised over $35 million for U.S. communities in the past four years!
So how does the Drive 4 UR School even work? Specific vehicles chosen by the dealer – such as a 2017 Ford Mustang or a 2017 Ford F-150 -- are on display for the day and a location of choice (Ford recommends holding the event at the local school in order to make it a no-pressure fundraiser rather than a sales pitch). Community members arrive, sign a waiver and take a test drive. Afterwards, the fill out a survey about the vehicle, which is a requirement in order to receive Ford’s donation.
Ford donates up to $20 per test drive from that day, with a total donation of $6000 per campaign. Many dealerships will match the Ford donation in order to raise more funds and generate more response from the community. It’s a win-win for everyone!
