Chinese automaker Beiqi Foton Motor Co Ltd might be in the running to purchase one of Ford’s worst-performing manufacturing facilities, the São Bernardo do Campo manufacturing plant in Brazil. Foton was planning to build a factory in Guaiba, also located in the southern region of Brazil, and hopes to focus on buses and other heavy vehicle production in that country.
Closing the São Bernardo do Campo factory was inevitable after the company decided to end production of the Fiesta in Brazil as well as leaving the South American heavy truck market. In 2018, only 11 vehicles per employee were produced at the plant, which is the oldest manufacturing facility Ford operated in Brazil and one of the largest, with 12 million square feet of space.
Foton’s Brazillian subsidiary CEO Marcio Vita couldn’t confirm the rumor, but there are apparently several automakers looking to make an offer on Ford’s Brazilian plant. In March 2019 a Brazilian automaker called CAOA was negotiating with Ford to put in an offer.
While 3,000 jobs will be eliminated, the plant was only in production three days a week, manufacturing heavy trucks and passenger cars. Both Fiat Chrysler and GM are also experiencing financial difficulties with their plants in Brazil as well.

Sales figures for the first quarter of 2019 were released recently and Ford Motor Company, America’s best-selling automotive brand for nine consecutive years, saw its truck sales hit their highest numbers in 15 years. In Q1 2019, 94,585 Ford F-Series trucks were sold.
The Ford Ranger also saw great sales between January and the end of March, with 9,421 sold, even though inventory was not at full capacity. Between the Ranger, F-150, Transit, Transit Connect, and heavy trucks sales, Ford trucks saw a 4.1% sales increase year-over-year for the first quarter of 2019.
Ford’s SUV sales were strong too, even though the 2020 Ford Explorer and Escape are not yet available. Ford Expedition sales increased 61.9% with 21,773 units sold, while consumers bought 12,879 Ford EcoSports in the first quarter. That represents a phenomenal increase of 111.3% over first quarter 2018.
“First-quarter 2019 sales were solid for Ford. Our winning portfolio continues to deliver,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford VP of U.S. Marketing, Sales, and Service. “F-Series expanded our leadership position while others slugged it out for second place. We have a close connection with our customers, allowing us to deliver what they need in their trucks.”

Have you heard the news? Ford has been working with Argo AI to test how autonomous vehicles can benefit small businesses. Last summer, the innovative companies approached local enterprises - such as florists, dry cleaning services, and a boutique pet care shop - to find out if a program to transport goods utilizing self-driving automobiles would be useful to them and the answer was yes! They then simulated a trial using an application where the participants could request or schedule deliveries. It wasn't AV but had graphics and sensor attachments throughout it to gain insight on how people would use the technology.
Are you in the market for a new car? Unfortunately, you can’t buy an AV yet, but you can get a 2018 Ford EcoSport SE which makes running errands easy and convenient. The compact crossover (161.3” L and 69.5” W) is perfect for squeezing into tiny parking spots, yet it still has a mighty motor to help you jet around town in a hurry. Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that generates 123 hp and 125 lb.-ft. of torque and can haul up to 2,000 lbs. Additionally, it gets an impressive EPA estimated fuel economy of 27 in the city and 29 on the highway (28 combined).

Ford is using its advanced technology to solve everyday problems, no matter how small: that’s why the company has taken a gadget from their automobiles and developed a ‘smart bed.’ The brand has implemented its lane departure device to prevent individuals from always moving around, rolling over, or pushing their significant other off the mattress (you know who you are!). How does it work? It utilizes a conveyor belt to gently nudge someone back to their side if they stray. Watch the following video to learn more:
If you want a vehicle that is savvy, then you should check out the 2018 Ford EcoSport SE. It has Sync 3 which is the best infotainment system on the market as it does it all: navigation, audio, climate controls, and it’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can jam out to your favorite music whenever you want. This is all easy to access and displayed on a color 6.5-inch touchscreen.
Additionally, it’s a practical SUV that still gives owners that much-desired oomph. Under the hood rests a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine which cranks out 123 hp and 125 lb.-ft. of torque. Lastly, the quality which really makes this fine machine stand out is the exceptional fuel economy of 27 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway (28 combined).

If you live in a major metropolis, then you know how much of a hassle it can be to find a parking spot. According toFordauthority, people all around the United States spend approximately 17 hours a year searching for a place to leave their car! The 2019 EcoSport is the solution to this problem. It’s a compact vehicle which has a length of only 161.3 inches and a width of 69.4 inches so it's perfect for squeezing into spaces along crowded streets.
The sleek crossover has a practical shape that affords it a bigger cargo area (20.9 cubic feet) than its competitors the Buick Encore or the Mazda CX-3 - it’s 7 inches shorter than both of them as well! Additionally, this beauty is proof that big things come in little packages as evidenced by the 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine. It cranks out an impressive 123 horsepower at 6,000 revolutions per minute and a whopping 125 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,500 rpm. It also has a six-speed automatic transmission for seamless shifting and front wheel drive to maintain traction. Lastly, the EPA estimates a combined fuel economy of 28 mpg (27 city/29 highway).

Mere months have passed since the 2018 EcoSport arrived in Seattle - bringing European-inspired styling and pure American utility to the highway. This crossover has been met with much acclaim, with both critics and consumers praising its impactful design.
Ford, however, is never content to rest - and a new EcoSport is already making its way to the proving grounds.
According to AutoBlog, a prototype for the 2020 EcoSport has just been spotted. This platform - which features an elongated body, affording a more convenient five-door profile - recently made its debut in Michigan, and critics were quick to capture a few revealing images. Wide fender flares anchor the chassis, delivering a sporty look; while four-lugged hubs pair with all-season tires. The suspension has been lifted (no official specs have yet been provided, but early estimates place the upgrade at more than an inch to ensure easier backroad travel); and the roofline yields a Fiesta-inspired curve.
This hatchback will impress on the Seattle streets - with AutoBlog noting teardrop headlamps and a widened grille. These elements provide an athletic fascia, branding the EcoSport perfect for commuters and sportsmen alike.

Things are not always what they seem. Ford proves this, delivering the surprisingly spacious 2018 EcoSport SES to the Kirkland market. Despite this compact’s narrow exterior, it yields ample space - accommodating passengers and cargo alike.
According to the San Diego Union Tribune, the new EcoSport SES deceives every first glance - with its short wheelbase (99.2-inches) disguising a spacious cabin. Slip inside and discover an adaptable two-row design, with five passengers able to comfortably sprawl:
First Row Head Room: 39.6 inches.
First Row Leg Room: 42.9 inches.
Second Row Head Room: 37.5 inches.
Second Row Leg Room: 36.7 inches.
The cavernous interior - which measures 161.3-inches long, 65.1-inches high, and 71.9-inches wide - conforms to all passenger needs, blending flat-folding seating with customizable cargo shelves. Redefine the cabin rows with the press of a button; and take advantage of Ford’s ample accessories (including four tie-downs, two hooks, and available netting) to accommodate everyday items with ease. The 2018 EcoSport SES promises up to 91.1 cu.-ft of total storage volume to ensure convenience with each mile.
Don’t judge a book by its cover - nor a crossover by its profile. The new EcoSport (despite its tight 59.8-inch front track) proves ready for every cargo demand.
It’s a series of sudden starts, stops, and sighs. Your foot wavers against the pedal, trying to achieve the perfect trajectory to conquer a downtown parking space; but every press leaves you lurching in your seat. Your bulky crossover simply wasn’t intended for such narrow lanes.
Perhaps it’s time to consider an upgrade?
According to Forbes, the 2018 EcoSport has arrived - and it’s bringing ease with it. Ford has tailored this crossover for the urban crowd, allowing them to effortlessly navigate city streets. Its lean dimensions (161.3-inches long, 65.1-inches high, and 81-inches wide) prove ideal for tight turns; while narrow tracks (59.8-inches in the front and 59.7-inches in the rear) accommodate every parking space. The 99.2-inch wheelbase nimbly maneuvers through Auburn’s busy downtown, boasting a curb weight of only 3,020-pounds. Aluminum inserts and carbon fiber moldings ensure a light, responsive experience.
Through this, the 2018 EcoSport delivers maximum value for city commuters - with its 16-inch low-gloss metallic wheels deftly weaving between traffic lights and sharp corners alike. This is the crossover for those wishing to conquer the urban jungle (rather than the Washington backroads).

Families living in a modern world often are on the pulse of what's new and up-and-coming. But even trendsetters know that when it comes to vehicles, aesthetic takes a backseat to security and reliability. Ford's all-new EcoSport gives you the best of both worlds, though, as demonstrated in the Blue Oval's latest commercial. Right on time for the recent release of Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” the fun, capable and connected compact SUV appears with characters from the popular movie; the 30-second spot spotlights its various features and benefits that are impactful both for little ones and their own guardians.
Watch the commercial to see the EcoSport in action with Groot, the beloved character from "Guardians," in the video below!
The EcoSport's spacious interior, aerodynamic elements and athletic design are only a few of its easily discernible features. But some of its greatest assets, such as BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert, and Auto Start-Stop Technology (a function that can help decrease fuel consumption and emissions), are less visible from first glance.
The brand new EcoSport hits lots nationwide in early 2018. Learn more at Sound Ford in Seattle, Washington today!
Big things are on the horizon for the compact EcoSport SUV, a vehicle that Ford crafted to 'go small while living big.' The SUV is one that will benefit from the Blue Oval's all-new streaming technology.
In the EcoSport, where interior space is limited, the new streaming upgrade will upheave the way that passengers listen to music on the road. Given that Millennials overwhelmingly prefer subscription and streaming services than the alternative - CDs, in particular - the new EcoSport will feature an option for streaming technology, removing the original CD player in the vehicle altogether. The streaming update will provide users with a variety of choices on demand, while increasing the capacity to hold personal items and devices and allowing the touch screen to stay more upright.
Although CDs are not completely obsolete yet, Ford's removal of the CD player is supported by data that advocates for digital music. The 2016 Nielsen Mid-Year U.S. Music Report, for example, shares that overall consumption of downloaded and streamed music is up 15 percent, whereas physical album sales have decreased by 10 percent.
In addition to the streaming technology for a more enhanced music experience, the EcoSport will also include an available Wi-Fi hotspot and SYNC Connect® with FordPass®. Learn more about what's on tap for the EcoSport at Sound Ford in Seattle, Washington!
